Our Children

Be Brave Bears is a charitable organisation run by volunteers who send personalised keepsake bears to children who are terminally ill or have life limiting conditions. Each of our bears is sponsored by businesses, groups or families, meaning these bears are free of charge to the children. Once complete each bear is placed in a special keepsake bag and given to the child complete with a numbered certificate. Once the child has received their bear the sponsor will receive a thank you photograph via e-mail of the completed bear and a sponsorship certificate with the name of the child who you have sponsored. Each bear is allocated a number and will appear on our Roll of Honour. If the child on this page has already been sponsored, but due to the timing of the previous sponsorship it has not yet been removed from this area, your sponsorship will be automatically allocated to the child next on the list (Priority order). This seldom happens but we must highlight that it can occur.

Quentin reekhaye-o’neill’s Medical condition...

My son was an identical twin . I had twin to twin transfusion and my boys were born at 30week. Quentin’s brother died two days after birth and Quentin kept fighting. Quentin had 3major bleeds to the brain and was diagnosed with hydrocephalus, he had two shunt operations at 2 weeks and 8weeks old. He now has a permanent vp shunt. At 6months old the dr diagnosed him 4 limb cerebral palsy, microcephaly and vision impairment. I’ve been told that he is unlikely to walk. Quentin was so Ill when he was born and since he was born he hasn’t stopped fighting, always improving and amazing medical staff. He’s been through so many painful procedures and operations and he can still smile and trust people. He’s the bravest boy I know.

A bit about Quentin reekhaye-o’neill...

Quentin is non mobile. He has the best personality, everyone that meets him loves him and he always gets special attention. He loves music and singing. He always wants to learn so anything with paper and cards that he can look at pictures and learn he loves doing. He also adores pepper pig, which I’m really happy with because before he hated children programmes, never interested,But pepper pig is an exemption! Quentin is also an outdoor boy, long walks and seeing nature and touching plants and trees is his favourite. 2/3hour walk minimum!
