Our Children

Be Brave Bears is a charitable organisation run by volunteers who send personalised keepsake bears to children who are terminally ill or have life limiting conditions. Each of our bears is sponsored by businesses, groups or families, meaning these bears are free of charge to the children. Once complete each bear is placed in a special keepsake bag and given to the child complete with a numbered certificate. Once the child has received their bear the sponsor will receive a thank you photograph via e-mail of the completed bear and a sponsorship certificate with the name of the child who you have sponsored. Each bear is allocated a number and will appear on our Roll of Honour. If the child on this page has already been sponsored, but due to the timing of the previous sponsorship it has not yet been removed from this area, your sponsorship will be automatically allocated to the child next on the list (Priority order). This seldom happens but we must highlight that it can occur.

Joeseph Flint’s Medical condition...

Joeseph was born at 24 weeks gestation weighing 1lb 5ozs. He spent 14 weeks in neonatal intensive care, was discharged with oxygen. Ended up in picu at a year old on an oscillator as both lungs collapsed and started to solidify. He has chronic lung disease, periventricular leukomalasia, global development delay, ROP, hypermobility, extreme milk and dairy allergy, growth delay...he is nearly 5 and only weighs 15kg so is classed as failure to thrive. The consulants are now suspecting adhd but cant diagnose until this time next year. He is still not fully potty trained and has the understanding of a 2.5-3 year old.

A bit about Joeseph Flint...

He is amazing. He is fixated with technology whether thats computers or phones he knows his way around them like a pro. He doesnt understand role play or how it works despite receiving support from me, his dad, his 3 sisters, professionals and school. He loves his electric car and is often found bashing into all the walls in the house. At school friends vary from day to day depending on his mood. Some days he wants to play with everyone other days he hates the world. He is just a big ball of energy x
