Our Children

Be Brave Bears is a charitable organisation run by volunteers who send personalised keepsake bears to children who are terminally ill or have life limiting conditions. Each of our bears is sponsored by businesses, groups or families, meaning these bears are free of charge to the children. Once complete each bear is placed in a special keepsake bag and given to the child complete with a numbered certificate. Once the child has received their bear the sponsor will receive a thank you photograph via e-mail of the completed bear and a sponsorship certificate with the name of the child who you have sponsored. Each bear is allocated a number and will appear on our Roll of Honour. If the child on this page has already been sponsored, but due to the timing of the previous sponsorship it has not yet been removed from this area, your sponsorship will be automatically allocated to the child next on the list (Priority order). This seldom happens but we must highlight that it can occur.

Zoë Armstrong Gash

Age 11

Hospital: Great Ormond Street

Note: Bear pictured may not be the bear given to the child (most of the time it is though)

Zoë Armstrong Gash’s Medical condition...

Because she is a warrior princess. She has a tracheostomy (which hopefully will come out soon), a complex neurovascular condition that results in frequent TIAs and chronic headache, ADHD, autism, dyspraxia, dyslexia, speech disorder, hearing loss and learning difficulties. None of this stops her from living a full life. She is the bravest person I know and never complains.

A bit about Zoë Armstrong Gash...

Due to her autism, Zoë is quite fixed in her interests. She loves her dolls, she has so many, and teddies. She loves her Xbox and Wii but only likes about two games on each. She is strong minded, funny, affectionate and has the attention span of a gnat. If you ask her what her favourite animals are, she says: unicorns, butterflies, giraffe and owls in that order. She is incredibly loyal to her friends and loves being around people. She loves watching telly, particularly vet programmes and My Life on CBBC. Strictly Come Dancing is her favourite. She is very girly, loving all things flowery, sparkly, stars, fluffy, furry and butterflies. She stood up to Simon Cowell and charmed the pants off him. She is amazing. She goes to Shooting Star Chase for support.
