Our Children

Be Brave Bears is a charitable organisation run by volunteers who send personalised keepsake bears to children who are terminally ill or have life limiting conditions. Each of our bears is sponsored by businesses, groups or families, meaning these bears are free of charge to the children. Once complete each bear is placed in a special keepsake bag and given to the child complete with a numbered certificate. Once the child has received their bear the sponsor will receive a thank you photograph via e-mail of the completed bear and a sponsorship certificate with the name of the child who you have sponsored. Each bear is allocated a number and will appear on our Roll of Honour. If the child on this page has already been sponsored, but due to the timing of the previous sponsorship it has not yet been removed from this area, your sponsorship will be automatically allocated to the child next on the list (Priority order). This seldom happens but we must highlight that it can occur.

Logan Royston Joshua Weller’s Medical condition...

Logan aka Lolo was born July 09 a healthy boy. He had his MMR in August 10 & wivin a week he had his 1st epileptic fit & became weak dwn 1 side Drs couldnt find anythin wrong so sent us home 4days l8r.Well we got him bak 2 walkin talkin potty trained etc, ova the next 9months he was bak 2 his old self, Unfortunately in May 11 Lolo had another fit & the meds didnt work so we were rushed 2our local hospital unfortunately they couldnt help him so they intubated him & we were then rushed 2 Evelina Childrens Hospital. After a few days of very strong meds they said he was epileptic so was allowed home but th@ wasnt 4 long as the meds werent workin so we were rushed back 2 London, Lolo wasnt good @ all & over the next few months he lost his eyesight his ability 2 eat, control his bowels & muscle tone we was then told he was classed as an un-diagnosed progressive neuro-metabolic condition wiv refractory epilepsy & episodes of partial status epilepticus visual impairment evolving movement disorder & disordered swallowin & was fitted with a peg & told if he made it 2 Christmas make it a good 1. Lolo has had several operations a Portacaph, his hips screwed & plated, an operation every 6months 2hav his feed button replaced. 2018 hasnt been th@ nice 2 us, in May his stomach started 2 swell so we rushed Lolo 2 our local Hospital they were not happy & rushed us2 the Evelina Children’s hospital PICU ward. After several scans MRI & CT all coming bak inconclusive the Drs decided he would need a laparostomy & a stoma, he also had sepsis. We were then allowed home Unfortunately, th@ didnt last long,25hrs & we were bak in PICU havin another emergency laparostomy, & the sepsis was bak, Lolo was bak on antibiotics & had 2 hav 2 Picc lines inserted. We ended up stayin in, in total 4 11weeks wiv havin complete bowel & stomach rest gettin sepsis 4 times, havin bowel perforations, he thought hard & we were finally allowed home, we were bak 4days b4 we were bak in our local & they didnt want 2 risk Lolos health so bak 2 London we went 2 find out Lolo had gastroenteritis so they kept us in 4 5 days. A new plan was set up & is goin well we are not quite bak 2 full overnight feedin but very close. Whilst we were in hospital Lolos fits hav deteriorated Lolo now requires oxygen on sum of his fits & he also likes 2 keep us on our toes & drop his sats which means he sumtimes needs oxygen throughout the day & nite, but he is still doin well still fightin & still provin the Doctors wrong

A bit about Logan Royston Joshua Weller...

Logan who we all call Lolo is our monkey he is a rather cheeky monkey & he still is a cheeky monkey in his own way now he might not be able 2 do what he did before, but he still likes 2 cause mischief in his own personal way. Lolo has his own personal star named after him called Lolo’s star. Lolo is a strong brave fighter & no matter what the world throws at him he fights it & takes it on his chin
