Our Children

Be Brave Bears is a charitable organisation run by volunteers who send personalised keepsake bears to children who are terminally ill or have life limiting conditions. Each of our bears is sponsored by businesses, groups or families, meaning these bears are free of charge to the children. Once complete each bear is placed in a special keepsake bag and given to the child complete with a numbered certificate. Once the child has received their bear the sponsor will receive a thank you photograph via e-mail of the completed bear and a sponsorship certificate with the name of the child who you have sponsored. Each bear is allocated a number and will appear on our Roll of Honour. If the child on this page has already been sponsored, but due to the timing of the previous sponsorship it has not yet been removed from this area, your sponsorship will be automatically allocated to the child next on the list (Priority order). This seldom happens but we must highlight that it can occur.

Caitlin Thomas

Age 3

Hospital: James Paget Hospital

Note: Bear pictured may not be the bear given to the child (most of the time it is though)

Caitlin Thomas’s Medical condition...

Caitlin had a neonatal stroke, which damaged the cerebral part of her brain. This has led her to being diagnosed with cerebral palsy, epilepsy, global development delay, cortical vision impairment (she is severely sight impaired). Caitlin is now 3 and a half, non verbal, she has an aversion to food, swallowing difficulties, unable to walk, and is developmentally as well as cognitively around 6-12 months. Caitlin has had many hospital admissions from neonatal to picu, which resulted in nearly losing her 3 times. She's been through so much, more than I can put here, she's been soon brave and is a strong lil girlz which is y I nominate her

A bit about Caitlin Thomas...

Caitlin enjoys sensory toys, her fave song is row row the boat, she will crawl over to u and hold out her hands for u to do the actions to it, if u don't do it fast enough she will rock u faster so u know, she loves nothing more than spinning, rocking fast, a proper sensory seeker. Although Caitlin is like a baby still, she can be a stubborn lil girl, she knows what she wants, and will do anything to get out of her physio. Caitlin shows her excitement by squealing, flapping her hands and tapping u, with the biggest smile on her face
